Respite care

We understand that the role of a full-time carer, particularly an unpaid family carer, can be as challenging as it is rewarding. Our flexible respite care services enable regular carers to take the breaks they need, with confidence that their loved ones will receive consistency of care and professional support from our teams.

We create customised, person-centred care plans to suit your needs, routines and aspirations. We will work closely with you and your usual carers to ensure you are well looked after during their time away. We can help with all aspects of daily living to ensure you are comfortable, safe and happy at home.

What is respite care?

Respite care is short-term care provided in place of your usual care arrangements. For example, if you are usually cared for by a family member who needs to take a break or holiday, or if your usual domiciliary carer is taken ill unexpectedly.

Respite care is available for any period of time, from an hour or two or for longer periods of a week or more.

Respite carers aim to provide consistent care in line with your usual arrangements. This may include:

  • Personal care, such as helping you wash and dress
  • Domestic support, such as helping with housework or laundry
  • Daily living tasks, such as helping you prepare meals or run errands
  • Medication management
  • Social support and companionship
  • Mobility support, to help you move around the home or get out of the house to socialise or attend appointments
